The Last Dragon, in my opinion, is one of the best film made. I first saw the film when I was 8 years old, and recently watching again, it reminds me how much fun the 80's was. With Bruce Leroy wearing traditional Chinese garment wherever he goes and his family owning a pizzeria called Daddy Green's Pizzeria (mind you, the Green family was black). The most memorable character in the film was Sho'nuff....
Sho'nuff:"I am the Shogun of Harlem! Now, when I say, "Who's da masta?" you say, "Sho'nuff!"
Sho'nuff: "Leroy! Who's tha masta?!" Leroy: "I am."
The soundtrack to the film is lead by DeBarge's Rythym of the Night. I remember singing the song all day with my buddies, and the video shows how exciting the 80's was. Goddamn, I miss the 80's.
I randomly heard Daniel Balavoine's Le Chanteur on a French internet radio station few months back, but I instantly loved the song. I was curious about Balavoine, finding that he was a big star in France before his death. Weird how I become a fan of his almost 20 years after his death..... just received his greatest hits album a few days ago, and I'm listening to it at work, home, car, everywhere.... I love it.
David "Dave" Kang is the boss of the Chung crime family and patriarch of the Kang household. He is troubled with personal and professional problems and sees a therapist for his panic attacks. His therapist is Dr. Jennifer Melfi, an Italian-American. Dr. Melfi struggles to maintain her ethical and professional position despite being endangered and threatened by Dave and his criminal lifestyle.
Dave's immediate family consists of his wife Grace Kang and adopted son Chris Lee. Grace is a proud mother and devoted wife who struggles to accept her husband's criminal activity and infidelity as well as her own financial insecurity. She maintains a social network with other Mafia wives and widows. Chris is initially a typical adolescent and struggles with an unconfirmed diagnosis of ADHD and teenage rebellion.
Dave's close circle within the Chung crime family includes John "Jewanatalk" Park, Jun "Lil" Kim, Peter "Shady" Shim and Paul "Phat" Cho. Jun is Dave's consigliere and best friend, Phat Cho, Jewanatalk, and Shady are longtime soldiers who have worked with Dave. Jewanatalk is aging soldier with a talent for book-keeping. Phat Cho is imported muscle from an associated Korean crime family and Shady is an 'Old School' soldier who took over a crew.
Augustine "Auggie" Hong, David "Lil" Hong and "Small Head" Ed Shin are all significant characters from the Glenview based Rim crime family, which shares much of its business with the Kang organization. Although the Chungs' and Rims' interests are often at odds, Dave maintains a cordial business-like relationship with Auggie Hong, preferring to make deals that benefit both families. "Lil" Hong, however, is more difficult to deal with, ambitious and not hesitant to use or order violence against Dave's crew.
